Enormous amounts of data are studied in genome research. For instance, not only do the approximately 25,000 genes of humans need to be identified – they must be investigated in great detail as well.

Since each gene and its products can be involved in many different processes, thousands of parameters and their combinations must be analyzed.

To do this, scientists have devised experiments in which many steps can be carried out by robots. This is the only way scientists can collect millions of data points and then come to the right conclusions for the benefit of patients in disease-related research.
